So without further ado…

Taking the lead this week: Shelfy, fresh off his trip to the Field of Dreams Game in Iowa.

What was it like being in Iowa for the Field of Dreams Game? What were you expecting going in? What was similar, what was different, what blew your mind?

I think going into it I was definitely expecting to be in the middle of nowhere But I've never been somewhere like that before, so getting there and at nine o'clock at night, everything's closed, everything shut down. I felt like I was in like Remember the Titans — like that kind of town.

Stadium was awesome. It was one road to the field. You have the actual MLB stadium, and then the set from the movie, literally connected through the cornfield. You can walk through the movie set too — the house, the field, all of it.

I put an Instagram story up of me walking through the corn. If you look at the very last second, you see me kind of squint over to my right. It was because Shane Victorino came out of the corn at the exact same time. No media, no cameraman, nothing, just standing there. So I finished my bit. I go over, I talk to him. I ended up talking to Shane for like 10 minutes about the Phillies, about cricket, everything he was doing there that day.

So I got to walk around the stadium with him. And that's when I realized that everyone there was just taking it all in. Not just the media, not just a few family members. Bryce Harper, the owner John Middleton, they're walking around with their phones out, taking videos that only them and their family are going to see. They look like little kids.

So it was just really cool seeing everyone — from millionaires to friends and family to kids — just embracing it. Like everyone understood the assignment. Like we're probably not going to be here again. This is really cool. Let's take it in. And you felt that the whole time.

What was the travel like getting there and back?

We flew into Cedar Rapids from New York. Then had to get to Dyersville. So we had to get a rental car, about an hour-and-20-minute drive. I know Chicago is the other airport that people go to, but that's three hours out. So we went Cedar Rapids.

But the airport's crazy. It's one of those small terminals where there's like two bars. There's not even a Starbucks in there. Like it's just, here's a beer, enjoy your flight! Everyone's so nice and friendly though.

Going home was a little tough, Both flights got delayed, it was like a 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. travel day. But all worth it.

Watching the game in that stadium, would you equate it to a minor league park, a movie set, something different altogether?

We kept saying it felt like like a really nice Single-A baseball stadium hosting, like, a state championship. That's kind of what it felt like. There's only like 7,800 people there, I think. And a lot of that was scattered media.

I mean, when the Phanatic is doing a t-shirt toss on top of the dugout, he can literally reach everyone. There's not a fan in any row that can't get a t-shirt during the t-shirt toss — like this is nuts!

No fans in the outfield except for the one little walkway that they had — the walkway through center field, it’s real corn hanging everywhere, by the way. Not fake corn. There's real corn just, like, falling off that you can just shuck right there on the ground. There's signs up in the cornfield. “Watch for flying baseballs.” The ball flies there, too, by the way. Always high scores.

So the game was really, really cool. Flyover was awesome. Everything about it was just great. It was, like, the perfect baseball experience.

What was the fan split?

Probably 50/50 representation. Lot of Twins fans. I would say there actually might not have been as many Phillies fans as Twins fans — the Phillies as a team brought so many friends and family though. They had like three sections full of people. The broadcast crews took up another whole section.

So I would actually say the Twins probably had more fans there, but the Phillies had a lot of people there, too.

Next year it’s coming back, and it’s Red Sox versus Royals. Any tips for someone who wants to go next year? Things that surprised you? Anything you’d do differently next time or want to spend more time doing?

I would say to just go into it expecting to be really nice to people and ask questions, because everyone there is super awesome. The employees around the stadium are the nicest — we just talked to them and they let us stop for photos and stuff like that, even near the scoreboard.

Everyone is super super nice, so if you want to get a closer look at anything, just ask — the worst they can say is no.
